Monica Esposito 女史編集のモノグラフ『19−20世紀に於けるチベットのイメージ（Images of Tibet in the 19th and 20th Centuries）』がパリの極東学院 École Française D’Extrême-Orient から出版（études Thématiques 22） されました。
上下2巻合わせて860頁というデカい本です。
上巻には「西洋」「日本」「中国その1」が、下巻には「中国その2」と「チベット」の章が収められています。
実は最初、2巻本のつもりで編集しはじめたのではなかったのでこうなってしまったのです。
それはともかく、この本で扱われる話題は多岐にわたりますが、要するに世界がチベットに対してどのような関心を持ってきたのか、どのように知ろうとしてきたのかを纏めた書ということが出来るでしょう。チベット学の研究史として利用することも出来ます。
中にはいままで学術的には話題にされなかった分野もあり、純粋な仏教学の本でもなく、かと言って純粋な歴史学の本でもなく、すごく面白い出来上がりになってます。
